All tracking data stays on your device by default.

Focsy is built on a local-first architecture. Your focus data, app usage patterns, and session history are stored on your Mac and never uploaded unless you explicitly enable cloud sync.

What We Collect

Stored Locally (On Your Device)

  • Active application names and window titles (for focus state detection)
  • App switching patterns and frequency
  • Deep session data (duration, intention, reflection)
  • Focus scores and state history
  • Nudge interactions

This data is stored in a local SQLite database on your Mac. It is never transmitted to our servers unless you enable cloud sync.

Stored in the Cloud (Only With Your Account)

  • Account information: Email address and authentication tokens (for sign-in)
  • Subscription status: Plan type and billing period (managed by Paddle)
  • Synced settings: Nudge preferences, theme, and notification settings (if cloud sync is enabled)
  • Aggregated metrics: Daily focus scores and session summaries (if cloud sync is enabled)

What We Don't Collect

  • Screen content: We never capture screenshots or record your screen
  • Keystrokes: We never log what you type
  • Full URLs: We store domain names only, never complete URLs
  • Private browsing: Activity in private or incognito windows is never tracked
  • File contents: We never access or read your documents or files

How We Use Your Data

Your local data is used exclusively to:

  • Calculate your Focus Score and focus states
  • Detect drift patterns and trigger nudges during deep sessions
  • Generate your personal focus analytics and trends
  • Track streaks and session history

Cloud data (when enabled) is used to:

  • Sync your settings and progress across devices
  • Maintain your subscription status
  • Send weekly progress summaries (if enabled)

Data Storage & Security

Local data is stored in an encrypted SQLite database on your Mac. Cloud data is stored on Supabase (our backend provider) with row-level security — you can only access your own data. Cloud sync uses encrypted connections (TLS). We do not sell, share, or provide your data to advertisers or data brokers.

Third-Party Services

  • Supabase: Authentication, cloud database, and real-time sync. Their privacy policy applies to cloud-stored data.
  • Paddle: Payment processing and subscription management. Paddle acts as our merchant of record and handles billing data directly.

We do not use any analytics SDKs, advertising trackers, or third-party data collection tools.

Cookies

The Focsy website uses only essential cookies for authentication. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or third-party analytics on our website.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Export your data: Download all your focus data at any time from the app settings
  • Delete your data: Permanently delete all local and cloud data from within the app
  • Disable cloud sync: Keep all data local-only at any time
  • Revoke permissions: Remove Accessibility or Screen Recording access through macOS System Settings

Children's Privacy

Focsy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
